NutrientChef Corporate Seminars

NutrientChef offers group and corporate nutrition and wellness seminars.  Seminars are one hour in length and can be scheduled individually or as a series.  Michele Powers-Farber, R.D. will share valuable nutrition information and inspire participants to make initial changes towards their health goals.  Seminars are upbeat and fun and audience participation is encouraged!  Slideshows and webinars can be incorporated and packets of topic-specific handouts are prepared for each person in attendance.  We usually have a couple of healthy snack offerings for people to sample along with the recipes so the snacks can be prepared at home. 

Sample Topics Include:

Nutrition 101

A discussion on appropriate portions size, meal composition, developing an individual eating plan, and healthy snacking.  This is a great initial seminar!

Quality of Foods

Are carbohydrates and fats really bad?  Michele will explain complex and simple carbohydrates and the difference between naturally occurring fats and man-made fats.  In addition, there will be a discussion of our food supply in the U.S., food manufacturing, food labeling, organics, and food additives. 

How Food Affects Your Overall Well-Being

Statistics show that the incidence of diabetes and heart disease are on the rise in our country.  Why is this and how are our food choices creating this conundrum?  Michele will give you steps to help your body rather than hinder your health and will give an in depth scientific explanation of how food choices can encourage chronic disease.

Food Pairing and How to Maximize Energy Levels Throughout the Day

Do you experience the 10am and 3-4pm energy slump?  Food choices can create peaks and valleys in your energy level throughout the day.  Michele will share a scientific explanation of food pairing and how food can be combined to create a slow, steady release of energy throughout the day.  It’s time to get off of the roller coaster!

Developing an Individual Eating Plan

Let’s face it.  We all have busy schedules!  Food sometimes is not the priority!  Michele will work with the group to show them how to develop an eating plan that fits their schedule and helps to maximize energy levels.  Each participant will take home a rough draft of their plan.

Deciphering the Food Label

The food label gives a lot of helpful information, but it is often confusing to decipher the facts!  In addition, food labeling is used as a marketing tool to draw you towards the product.  Michele will navigate through the food label giving tips on how to decide if a product is actually “healthy”.  She will also discuss government regulations and loopholes that manufacturers use to make their products sound great!  An interactive activity is included incorporating many of our favorite snack foods.

Healthy Holiday Eating

During the holidays it is easy to throw your eating plan out of the window, telling yourself you will “get back on track” in January!  This is a great seminar for September-October when people are gearing up for the holidays.  Michele will help participants think through common high calorie holiday food traps and develop a plan for success.  Recipe modifications for family favorite dishes will be discussed and plenty of recipes will be shared! 

Healthy Eating and Snacking in the Workplace

The vending machine, your neighbor’s candy bowl, catered events, business travel, the “dumping zone” in the community kitchen….. Eating healthfully in the workplace can be a challenge!  We will do a brief lesson on Nutrition 101 and then discuss how to make this a reality in the office.  Developing a plan, food availability, and healthy snacking will be discussed.  Easy, balanced, lunch and snack ideas will be provided as well as restaurant meal suggestions and having a plan for business travel.
